Homemade Smokey BBQ Sauce
Ingredients
- 50 gm Red onion finely diced
- 20 gm brown sugar
- 20 gm Smokey paprika
- 5 gm Crushed garlic
- 500 ml Tomato ketchup
- 65 ml Worcestershire sauce
- 65 ml Cider vinegar
- 5 gm Onion powder
- 2 drops Liquid smoke - if available
- 20 gm Maple syrup
Instructions
- Fry off onion and garlic in a small amount of vegetable oil until softened
- Add brown sugar and maple syrup cook for further 4 mins
- Add other ingredients and incorporate well
- Simmer for 10mins, stirring regularly
Notes
NB Be careful not to burn the bottom of the saucepan as it will give your sauce an unpleasant flavour.
