Homemade Smokey BBQ Sauce

Ingredients
  

  • 50 gm Red onion finely diced
  • 20 gm brown sugar
  • 20 gm Smokey paprika
  • 5 gm Crushed garlic
  • 500 ml Tomato ketchup
  • 65 ml Worcestershire sauce
  • 65 ml Cider vinegar
  • 5 gm Onion powder
  • 2 drops Liquid smoke - if available
  • 20 gm Maple syrup

Instructions
 

  • Fry off onion and garlic in a small amount of vegetable oil until softened
  • Add brown sugar and maple syrup cook for further 4 mins
  • Add other ingredients and incorporate well
  • Simmer for 10mins, stirring regularly

Notes

NB Be careful not to burn the bottom of the saucepan as it will give your sauce an unpleasant flavour.
