Homemade Smokey BBQ Sauce

Ingredients
  

  • 50 gm Red onion finely diced
  • 20 gm brown sugar
  • 20 gm Smokey paprika
  • 5 gm Crushed garlic
  • 500 ml Tomato ketchup
  • 65 ml Worcestershire sauce
  • 65 ml Cider vinegar
  • 5 gm Onion powder
  • 2 drops Liquid smoke - if available
  • 20 gm Maple syrup

Method
 

  1. Fry off onion and garlic in a small amount of vegetable oil until softened
  2. Add brown sugar and maple syrup cook for further 4 mins
  3. Add other ingredients and incorporate well
  4. Simmer for 10mins, stirring regularly

Notes

NB Be careful not to burn the bottom of the saucepan as it will give your sauce an unpleasant flavour.
