Ingredients

olive oil

kg
chuck steak - 1 inch diced
500
grams
baby red potatoes
4
carrots cut into 1/2 inch pieces
1
onion, diced
3
cloves garlic crushed
3
cups
beef stock
2
tbsp
tomato paste
1
tbsp
Worcestershire sauce
1
tsp
rosemary
2
bay leaves
1/4
cup
flour
Method

Heat Olive oil in a large pan over medium heat

Season beef with salt and pepper, to taste. Add beef to the pan and brown evenly

Place Beef, Potatoes, carrots, onion and garlic into a slow cooker. Stir in beef broth, Tomato paste, Worcestershire, Rosemary and bay leaves until well combined.

Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours

In a Small bowl , whisk together flour and 1/2 cup of stew broth. Stir in flour mixture into the slow cooker. cover and cook on high heat for an additional 30 minutes, or until thickened.

serve immediately with mashed potato and crusty bread
Recipe Notes
Brown the chuck in batches before adding to the slow cooker. Don't crowd the pan or it will steam rather than sear. That colour adds a lot of flavour to the finished dish.
